I think these are the before and after shots of Steve and Peta's barge Histoire D'Eau, taken in Nancy.  Cleans up real good!

In times gone by these donkey engines pulled barges through the tunnels on the Marne au Rhin and Ardennes canals
Strasbourg is a mecca for tourists, and justifiably so.  All of these old buildings are popular restaurants serving Alsatian specialties. The Meurthe River looks enticingly cool on a hot day.  If you look closely there are a couple of guys sitting in the water on the left of the picture.
With Vieux France in the background, friends Carol and Larry pose on the pont, ably assisted by Barb.
In the area of Einville, where we stopped a couple of times, there is ample evidence of a salt mining industry.
The cathedral in Strasbourg is awesome.  It is hard to take a photo that will provide a sense of size to this immense structure.
The gates at Place Stanislas are typical of the opulence found in  Nancy.  We really enjoyed this city with its old town of restaurants and cafes and the new town featuring lovely Art Nouveau architecture.
Before we left Roanne we were treated to this spectacular rainbow.  The pot of gold must be right in the middle of the lock.
This is typical of the canal passage through Alsace.  Peaceful, gentle, and very scenic.
Before starting our journey, we met our first guests in Lyon and toured the old city.
It is an annual event that upon departure each boat is met at the first lock by the other port residents.  You don't want to bang into the lock with all these experts present.  We refer to them as the "critical mass", and look forward to getting together along the canals during our travels..
